Rationale behind choosing Sri Lanka as the venue

1. Improved local interaction in the fields of IT and automation: To provide a low cost opportunity for the researchers in Sri Lanka and neighboring countries to discuss latest developments in the fields of industrial automation and IT with a special focus on how these technologies can be utilized for the development of the region.
2. Improved regional technical cooperation: It is expected that the outcome of this symposium will encourage South Asian countries to strengthen their ties to form a strong forum for regional technical cooperation to stimulate more regional scientific research activities.
3. Improved regional participation in broader international professional bodies: Through strengthened relationships with a broad global research community, we hope to motivate an improved regional participation in the activities co-sponsored by large international professional bodies such as IEEE and IEE.
